About Us
The Jamaica Partners for Peace (JamPfP) Network is a collaboration of the United Nations Country Team (UNCT), with the Government of Jamaica, international development partners, and civil society. Funded by the Jamaica Violence Prevention, Peace and Sustainable Development Programme (JVPPSDP), with technical support from IGLOO Communities, Canada, the JamPfP Network seeks to increase coordination of violence prevention interventions in Jamaica. Through this on-line platform security, justice and peace practitioners, from all sectors will be able to seek and share knowledge and experiences pertinent to solving the practical problems they encounter.
"Civil society, NGOs, government ministries, academic institutions, and international development partners working in partnership to attain a more peaceful, secure and just Jamaica."
Very often "expert" knowledge is well documented, but some equally valuable practice "wisdom" can be lost because it is undocumented or ignored. This virtual space seeks to facilitate the capture of this practice wisdom and aid in the building of better practices among peace-building practitioners.
Through the moderated discussions, members interact on an ongoing basis, building trust and benefiting from new ideas gained from the diverse experience and knowledge of other practitioners. The ultimate aim is a peaceful, secure and just Jamaica.
The network is guided by a Core Resource Group with members from the Ministry of National Security, Ministry of Justice, National Transformation Programme, Dispute Resolution Foundation, Peace Management Initiative and the Kingston and St Andrew Action Forum.
